2019 Hopkins Ranch Pinot Noir

Overview

For the past 23 years, we have made a Pinot from the Hopkins Ranch ‘Swan Clone’ block, lovingly nicknamed Old Swan. This particular Pinot bottling is a true homage to that little parcel of grapes nestled in the heart of the Russian River. Classic fruit flavors of cherry and raspberry, with bright acidity, silky tannins, and velvety fruit weight - a prime example of Russian River Pinot with a nod to Burgundy. This one’s got soul.

Winemaker's Notes

The Nalle winemaking style follows traditional vigneron techniques: low yields in the vineyard, hand picking and sorting, gentler macerations, and small fermentations. Fermentation is finished in the barrel and the finished wine is unfined and racked only once to preserve the elegant flavors. Aged in 100% french oak with only a small percentage being new oak.

Tasting Notes

NOSE: Nostalgic aromas of fresh cherry and strawberry pie. Russian River sun in a bottle-- berry burst and plum blossom with a hint of minerality.

TASTE: Classic Pinot flavors of cherries and raspberries with just a touch of oak imparting dry cocoa, cream, and a hint of white tea.

MOUTHFEEL: Bright acidity, smooth tannins, and balanced fruit-- like stepping back in time, a nod to the moderate and elegant style of the 70’s and 80’s.

FINISH: Moderate acidity integrates with a long finish
